Social Media and Democracy
At Build Up Tessa is designing and leading projects across Europe focused on polarisation and European democracy. She aims to create more inclusive and empathetic conversations on social media on important topics such as migration, racism and climate change. Throughout her career she has worked to create productive dialogue between citizens online and offline – and to make politicians listen. Tessa is a researcher and political philosopher at heart, with an expertise in the impact of emotion and polarisation on democracy. She is committed to using technology to further democratise her home country the Netherlands, second home in the United Kingdom, and the rest of Europe.
